Comic Books for Justice (CB4J) is a collaborative effort between the Social Justice Network (SJN); the New York Public Library Jail & Prison Services, which delivers a range of library programs to incarcerated individuals and their families; and Hudson Link for Higher Education, which provides college education, life skills, and reentry support for current and formerly incarcerated people to help them make a positive impact.

By making donations of comic books to correctional facilities, CB4J’s unique, ground-breaking initiative already provides resources to foster literacy and improve self-esteem.

In the realm of criminal justice and social reform, the power of education cannot be overstated. Education is the beacon that can guide individuals away from the paths of recidivism and towards brighter futures. Yet, access to educational resources within correctional institutions is often limited, leaving individuals behind bars with few opportunities for personal growth and development.
